2022-2023 High School BBQ League Season

  • ONLY $200 for High School Charter. Unlimited HSBBQ teams. Teams do not need individual charters only a School Charter.
  • ALL EVENTS ARE $200 - Make checks out to the host school. This is their event and a fundraiser. They will provide each team All MEATS which includes - (2) St. Louis Style Spare Ribs, (1) Whole Chicken, (2) Boneless 1 inch Pork Chops, (2) Skirt Steaks. All other meats and ingredients are the responsibility of the school and their team.
  • EVENT START TIMES/ FOOD TURN INS - 9:00 Set-up, 10:00 Start Fires, 1:00 Dutch Oven, 2:00 Pork Chop, 3:00 Skirt Steak, 4:00 Chicken, 5:00 Ribs, 6:00 Awards
  • Middle School students can compete on High School BBQ Teams or have a complete Middle School Team that will compete against HSBBQ teams until we have enough Middle School Only teams.
  • NEW Categories - St. Louis Spare Ribs, 1/2 Chicken (IBCA style), Boneless Pork Chop, Skirt Steak Taco, and Dutch Oven. Dutch oven will be announced August 15th.
  • States without HSBBQ State Championships will be able to invite 5 HSBBQ teams to THE SLAB: National Championship until there is over 5 High School Charters in their Region at which time they must host a HSBBQ State Championship to determine their TOP 5 to represent their State. Registration is first come first serve and is $550 for School Charter and THE SLAB: HSBBQ National Championship registration.
  • College HSBBQ cook offs are SUPER QUALIFIERS and the Grand Champion of these events automatically qualify for our State Championship and THE SLAB: HSBBQ National Championship.
  • NO SOUS VIDE, INSTAPOTS, ROTISSIERE
  • YES - PELLET COOKERS, ELECTRONIC THERMOMETERS, GENERATORS, FANS
  • EACH TEAMS MUST HAVE A FIRE EXINGUISHER IN THEIR SITE AND DISPLAYED OR WILL LOSE 10 POINTS ON THEIR OVERALL SCORE
  • Each team must have a copy of one team member that is Food Safety trained - Food Handlers, eHandlers on our site for $7.00, or a county Food Safety certificate.
  • EACH TEAM MUST HAVE 12 - 28 inch or larger safety cones for their 20x20 area. They can be colored, branded, school colors, have stickers, or School Spirit. Host School will provide Survey tape to rope off area. FAILURE TO BRING YOUR OWN CONES WILL RESULT IN LOSE OF 10 POINTS ON FINAL OVERALL TOTAL SCORE.
  • Texas HSBBQ League State Championship - Burnet High School May 5.
  • THE SLAB: National Championship - June - Date and Location TBA October 1st.

CHARTER REGISTRATION OPEN AUGUST 15TH - FEBRUARY 15, 2023

(NOTE: Must be a Charter High School to compete in any HSBBQL events, State Championships, and THE SLAB: National Championship)
