SCHOOL BOARD OF BARBECUE

The School Board of Barbecue

Investing in Students. Fueling Education. Igniting Futures.

The School Board of Barbecue is the premier sponsorship and scholarship leadership circle of the National High School BBQ Association® (NHSBBQA®)—a national, education-first organization using live-fire cooking and barbecue as a powerful vehicle for Career & Technical Education (CTE), applied learning, and workforce readiness.

Modeled after the spirit of a traditional school board—but powered by industry, community, and purpose—the School Board of Barbecue® unites brands, foundations, and civic leaders who believe in investing early in students, teachers, and schools through hands-on, project-based learning.

This is not charity.
This is strategic impact.

What Is the School Board of Barbecue?

The School Board of Barbecue is a national and state-level sponsorship ecosystem that allows partners to directly support:

  • Middle School & High School students

  • Educators and CTE programs

  • Public school campuses and districts

  • Regional, state, and national BBQ competitions

  • Scholarships, equipment, curriculum, and experiences

Through structured sponsorships and scholarships, partners help fund safe, standards-aligned, real-world learning experiences that teach students far more than how to cook.

They learn how to:

  • Plan and execute under pressure

  • Work as a team

  • Manage time, budgets, and resources

  • Communicate and present professionally

  • Lead with character and accountability

In short, students learn how to show up ready for life.

Impact on Students

For students, the School Board of Barbecue® creates access.

Access to:

  • Hands-on CTE learning rooted in culinary arts, food science, agriculture, welding, business, and engineering

  • Mentorship and role models from industry and community leaders

  • Competition pathways that reward discipline, creativity, and execution

  • Scholarships and financial support for post-secondary education and training

Students aren’t just cooking—they’re building confidence, resumes, and futures.

Barbecue becomes the classroom. Fire becomes the teacher. Purpose becomes the outcome.

‍ Impact on Teachers & Schools

For teachers and schools, the School Board of Barbecue® is a force multiplier.

Sponsors help provide:

  • Curriculum support and classroom resources

  • Equipment, trailers, pits, and safety gear

  • Professional development and teacher training

  • Event funding that removes barriers to participation

This support empowers educators to deliver high-impact, standards-aligned instruction that reaches students who may not thrive in traditional classrooms—but excel when learning by doing.

The result:

  • Stronger CTE pathways

  • Higher student engagement

  • Increased community pride

  • Programs that sustain and grow year after year

Impact on Communities

Communities don’t just watch these programs—they rally around them.

School Board of Barbecue® partners help create:

  • School-hosted cookouts and competitions
